What is Online Counselling?
Online counselling is the way of receiving professional mental health counselling services through the Internet or via the telephone. Online counselling can be used in conjunction with traditional face to face counselling or as a replacement for office visits (face to face sessions).
How Online Counselling works?
Online Therapy works the same as face to face therapy however it can be more convenient for work hours, family life and you can do it from the comfort of your own home. Online Therapy is becoming more and more popular as people are able to fit therapy into their schedule and lifestyle more easily. In my experience from working as an online therapist, because clients are in their own environment at home they feel a lot more comfortable and find it easier to open up which can speed up the counselling process.
Issues that can be brought to Online Counselling?
All issues that can be brought to a face to face sessions can also be brought to online sessions. Examples of issues that I have worked with online are:
- Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Depression
- Self Esteem / Confidence
- Bereavement
- Phobias
- Stress Management
- Anger Management
- Relationship Issues
- Eating Disorders
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Behavioural Issues
CBT and Online Counselling
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can most certainty be done online. CBT is a very techniques orientated approach which can still work via online platforms or through a telephone session. All CBT techniques can be used and shown how to implement outside of the therapy room via Online, and all techniques can and will be emailed to you after each session.
Online Platforms I work with
I provide Online Therapy via Skype, FaceTime, Zoom or Telephone Counselling providing evidence based therapy and between session resources/handouts and techniques. This means you become more empowered in your process of change – you are equipping yourself with the necessary tools and techniques to motivate change.
